Meet Caleb Stidham

FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE

Caleb Stidham has served as Erie County Treasurer for the past five years. Since his first day in office, protecting taxpayers has been his top priority – and he’s delivered on that mission.

Caleb has worked to make the government live within its means while helping residents keep more of their hard-earned money. He voluntarily cut his own office’s budget and successfully pushed for more than $30 million in property tax cuts and suspensions, providing meaningful relief for Erie County property owners. No other county in Ohio has done more to reduce the tax burden on its citizens.

As a key part of Erie County’s financial team, Caleb has been a wise steward of public funds. Erie County has been recognized multiple times by the Ohio Auditor of State for outstanding fiscal management. And Caleb has worked to protect our tax dollars from waste, fraud, and abuse.

When Caleb took office, Erie County tax dollars were invested in foreign-based entities. He put a stop to that, overhauling the county’s investment policy so that our money stays here in America. His work to prioritize safety, adequate liquidity, and return on investment has paid off – Erie County’s investment income has gone from under $700,000 per year to more than $5 million annually in just a few short years.

Through the Erie County Land Bank, Caleb has led efforts to invest tens of millions into our communities for much needed projects. Before he took office, the land bank was on the brink of financial collapse. Caleb saved the land bank by locating a sustainable funding source - without raising taxes. Since that time, the land bank has received significant state funding for projects throughout Erie County.

Caleb has also worked to make his office more accessible to the public by expanding office hours, making more information available online, and traveling to outlying rural communities so that residents have a convenient option to pay their taxes.

With a real record of results in local government, Caleb Stidham is now running for State Representative to bring the same taxpayer-first approach to Columbus and keep delivering for families throughout Erie, Huron, and Ottawa Counties.
